TG2 - Information and Awareness

The Thematic Group on Information and Awareness raising activities will contribute to the use of new transport ICT technologies in the design and production chain and to increased consumer demand for ITS products. This will be done by recording and evaluating the available experience as identified through dedicated workshops, enabling identification of the most effective awareness practices and the future promotion of best practice in awareness activities.

The Thematic Group is led by ERTICO ITS Europe. Partners involved are CLEPA, FIA European Bureau, ORANGE and TNO.

Expected impact
The Thematic Group on Information and Awareness raising activities will bring together key experts in dissemination and awareness activities concerning new transport ICT technologies. They will compile a shared knowledge of the effectiveness of various information and awareness activities in the ITS domain, this will lead to more take-up of ITS in the design and production chain and to increased consumer demand for ITS products. The resulting wider application of new technologies will lead to more competitiveness of the industry on one hand, and improving road safety, mobility efficiency and CO2 output on the other hand. The steps to achieve this will include small focused workshops within the Group and the compilation of a web-based knowledge base for past, current and future awareness activities, and an assessment of the effectiveness of such measures. Possible barriers and risk factors include a reluctance of those in industry to communicate their own awareness activities that are too close to market and a lack of real evidence of the effectiveness of ITS awareness actions. Progress will be measured by the number of different awareness initiatives compiled and by the number and status of those stakeholders who consent to participate actively in the Group.

D2.1.1 - Questionnaire - Inventory of methods

The questionnaire aims to identify actions ranging from pure awareness to deployment and from very specific to very general actions. The focus of this questionnaire is all in-vehicle systems (including stand alone systems, cooperative systems (infrastructure or vehicle-oriented), embedded or nomadic devices). .pdf (233 KB)
